Why we do what we do.
Most yoga spaces offer the same thing: posture-based classes that only scratch the surface of what yoga truly is. While some studios occasionally host workshops exploring other aspects of the practice, BIPOC-owned spaces offering this depth are uncommon.
For years, yoga and wellness environments have been spaces where practitioners of color often experience microaggressions, isolation, and a watered-down version of yoga that's been stripped of its cultural context to fit Western expectations.
The BIPOC Yoga Conference was created to change that.
This is a space where yoga practitioners of color can come together to expand their understanding and practice of yoga beyond just the physical postures. It's about exploring the full spectrum of yoga while being in community with people who share similar experiences and cultural understanding. We welcome allies who acknowledge our experiences and who are with us on the journey to decolonization.
No microaggressions. No feeling like the only one in the room. No erasure of yoga's roots and cultural heritage. Just authentic practice, meaningful learning, and genuine connection—with a whole lot of fun along the way!
